      Honeywrap is about making a difference. We are all about raising awareness and hopefully inspiring people to take simple actions that make a combined difference.

      The Kiwi needs our collective help. 

      Kiwi used to thrive in New Zealand, however, in the last few hundred years, widespread clearing of forest and introduced predators have seen the numbers drop. As a result the kiwi population is now around 68,000.  Despite an enormous amount conservation effort, that number continues to drop nationally by 2% every year - that is around 20 kiwi every week die.  Many New Zealanders have no idea that our national icon is in danger of disappearing from the wild altogether. 

      In areas where there is predator control, the rate of decline is slowing and some populations are even increasing. However, much of New Zealand's forest remains unmanaged and therefore kiwi remain at significant risk due to predators.

      Working together is the key.  Save the Kiwi raises awareness of the kiwi's plight, and runs breeding and repopulation programmes. They work alongside many organisations to reverse the decline of the national kiwi population and create more kiwi-safe habitat all over New Zealand.
